四大名砚为首 之“端砚”
端砚是我国四大名砚之一，它与甘肃的洮砚、安徽的歙砚、山西的澄泥砚齐名。出产于广东肇庆市，故名端砚，到今天为止已有一千三百多年的使用历史。端砚自古广受文人墨客等文人雅士收藏，因用端砚研墨不滞，发墨又快，研出的墨汁细滑流畅、不损毫，字迹的颜色历经久选而不退变。
无论春夏秋冬，砚台石质冰凉，砚心湛蓝墨绿，以及储水不凅，水气久存不散不吸等特质，所以古人就有了“呵气研墨”的说法。
端砚还含有其独特的石眼特征，它是自然生长在砚石中的一种好像眼睛的名贵的花纹， 石眼具有晶莹可爱，色泽亮丽，层次分明的特质。
